Apple Tree Cottage - Belford in Northumberland, a cottage in Northumberland, Durham and the North East: Apple Tree Cottage - Belford exterior

Easy access and an ideal base to explore Northumberland's coast and country.

Apple Tree Cottage is set in the quiet, peaceful village of Belford, only 3 miles from the coast and 5 miles from Bamburgh. Its location offers easy access to exhilarating walks along both country and coastal paths and is indeed an ideal base for hill walkers, ramblers and cyclists alike. Nearby are unfrequented, wild sandy beaches and a choice of beautifully situated golf courses such as Alnmouth, Embleton and Wooler.

The cottage is on one level with just one step up to the kitchen overlooking a well matured, enclosed rear garden. The sitting room is a comfortable room with gas fire, tv and dvd player. It accommodates a dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped with all modern amenities including electric cooker, washing machine, microwave and fridge/freezer. There are two double bedrooms {one double and one twin bedroom). Each of the bedrooms has tasteful bedding and soft furnishings. The bathroom incorporates a bath with overhead shower. The secluded rear garden offers a selection of outdoor furniture and a barbeque. There is also the addition of storage space for cycles. A cot and a high chair are available on request and the cottage has tourist information, masses of walking books and maps to browse through. Indoor and outdoor games are provided for all the family.

If you fancy a boat trip to the Farne Islands, Seahouses is not far away. Holy Island is approximately 12 miles north and Alnwick with its famous castle and gardens is only 15 miles south. Inland are the Cheviots to explore and historical houses such as Cragside, the first house to have electricity. Belford and the surrounding area provide 'breath taking' scenery whatever the season - so come and enjoy!

Belford is a village in Northumberland, England, about halfway between Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed, a few miles inland from the east coast and just off the Great North Road, the A1.

Belford is surrounded by rich pastoral farmland, and to the west of the village is found one of the better rock climbing locations in the county, Bowden Doors.
Spindlestone Ducket Mill is located about 3 km east of Belford, and is an 18th-century tapering cylindrical stone tower with a conical roof of Welsh slate. Its usage is uncertain, being sometimes classified as a windmill and sometimes as a dovecote.
Belford was for many years a coaching stop on the main A1 road from London to Edinburgh, which passed through the village. However, in 1983 a bypass was opened, and, freed from the constant traffic and pollution, the village could hold events on the High Street and in the Market Place once again.

With so much to do and see in the local and surrounding areas boredom should never strike, and yet peace will prevail, open year round we look forward to welcoming you no matter what time of year for your next Northumberland holiday or getaway.
