Altea Villas

Escape to the delightful region of Altea for the chance to indulge in sun, sand and sea.  This beautiful region is situated in Costa Blanca just north of Benidorm, however the contrast between the two resorts is astounding.  Altea is ideal for simply enjoying the glorious Mediterranean sunshine that this part of Spain has to offer, as well as sandy beaches and traditional whitewashed towns.   You can witness all of the best sights of the region from an Altea villa at your own pace, whether you are travelling as an individual, couple, family or group of friends.

Altea is perhaps the best-kept secret of the Alicante province, having avoided the tourism of neighbouring Benidorm, and its town of the same name is a pleasure to visit.  Those staying in an Altea villa will no doubt enjoy strolling along the medieval streets which wind around picturesque hilltop towns and amongst the pretty old quarter.  One of the region’s most famous landmarks is located in the town – the church of Nuestra Señora del Consuelo.  The beauty of the church astounds many people who take an Altea villa holiday as the magnificent blue and white tiled domes pierce the sky.  If you walk up the hill to the church you can explore the plaza and indulge in the incredible views of the bay, beaches and the sea.

As you walk around the Old Town in Altea you can see how many artists and craftsmen have been enchanted by the region for hundreds of years.  Today the rich history that the many artists brought to the area can be seen in the numerous stalls and shops that line the streets selling trinkets and other arts and crafts.  Exploring this part of the region during a stay at an Altea villa is recommended and if you choose to walk the streets towards the top of the hill you will be greeted by remarkable views of the Seirra Bernia mountain range.

Taking this route to the top of the hill can be demanding but you can enjoy some respite along the way in the restaurants, cafés and shops that sit beside the cobbled streets, or simply wait until you get home to an Altea villa to unwind after an active day.

The long coastline of the Costa Blanca is packed with beautiful beaches and the region of Altea has its own fair share of the coast.  On a warm summers day the 6km shoreline is perfect for relaxing and soaking up the sun, or indulging in some water sports amongst the bright blue waters.  On your Altea villa holiday you might like to visit the popular beach Playa de la Roda which has been awarded Blue Flag status due to its cleanliness and facilities.  This beach is perfect for families due to its amenities which include a children’s play area, showers and toilets, parking, disabled access and lifeguards.  After a day of indulging in the sun, sea and sand of Playa de la Roda you might like to take a stroll down the pretty promenade that lines the beach, perhaps exploring some of the bars, cafés and restaurants before returning to an Altea villa.

As the sparkling Mediterranean Sea gently crashes against the shore of the beaches you can take the opportunity to enjoy the many different water sports on offer.  From windsurfing, sailing and water skiing to diving and boat cruises, there are many activities that you can participate in during your Altea villa holiday whether you are a novice or experienced.  The region has two water sports centres where you can indulge in some exhilarating activities and both are considered high quality by those that have visited.  Named El Club Nautico de Altea and El Puerto Deportivo Luis Campomanes, both centres are ideally situated for you to explore the 6km of coast and other beaches near Altea villas such as Playa de Cap Blanch and Playa de Cap Negret.

During the nights of your Altea villa holiday you can choose to do a number of things.  From dining in local restaurants and tapas bars to dancing the night away at a club or disco, there is a wealth of activities to suit many different individuals.  The area certainly becomes livelier in the summer when bars and restaurants stay open into the early hours to cater to the higher number of visitors.  You can usually find establishments providing live music and entertainment for their guests as well as delicious meals and drinks.  Should you book an Altea villa when there are fiestas and festivals occurring you can enjoy the lively parades and processions that fill the streets with vibrant colours and music.
